Joy To The World

Hi ladies it's me again and hope y'all are doing well. I'm happy to present another blog to y'all and the title of this blog is called ''History Behind Joy To The World''. As many of y'all know ''Joy To The World'' is a very popular song that we sing very often during this time here and here I'm gonna share with y'all some facts that y'all may not know behind the song. First of all, the name of the author. The name of the author of the song is Isaac Watts who was born in 1674 and he died at 74 years old in 1748 an old man. Isaac Watts was a preacher's son who was a very gifted songwriter. He would grow up and later become a minister himself, a theologian, wrote books, and wrote many many hymns. When Isaac Watts wrote the song ''Joy To The World'' in the year 1719 it was based from Psalm 98 and actually it wasn't originally a ''Christmas carol'' but it was written for the second coming of Christ! It wasn't until 120 years later when an arranger named Lowell Mason who was a composer born in 1792 died in 1872 (he was eighty when he died) introduced that music in public schools. He would be the one who would officially arrange the melody inspired by ''Messiah'' by Handel would bring ''Joy To The World'' as the Christmas carol that we know today! Isn't that great or what? So friends as you go your way today and you sing the song ''Joy To The World'' think about the significance of that song and may it make us all the more grateful for Christ's first and second coming and rejoice for our Lord has come in the past and will come again in the future. The song ''Joy To The World'' is appropriate for both the first and second coming of Christ. Blessings, Merry Christmas, and have a wonderful week in the Lord!
