Dealing With Challenges During The Holidays

Hi ladies it's me again, happy Tuesday, and happy holidays! I hope and pray that each of you ladies and your families are doing well. I'm happy to present another Christmas blog and it's called "Dealing With Challenges During The Holidays". It's loosely based from the chapter from my second book called "My 20 Day Christmas Devotional " and we know that though Christmas is the "most wonderful time of the year" can be the hardest time of the year. Perhaps this year you lost a loved one. Maybe you lost a parent, grandparent, a sibling, a spouse, a child, or maybe a close friend. Perhaps it's your first Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's without your loved one and the grief is overwhelming you. (There are stages of grief shock, sadness, anger, bargaining, and the acceptable phase. I shared about that in my first book "Strength For Enduring Adversity" as well.) Perhaps you're dealing with struggling getting a long with family members. Maybe you deal with constant strife and conflict year around (It's never right dealing with strife but it's often a reality) and often the holidays can bring that to light. Perhaps someone in your family may struggle with alcohol or drugs, maybe there's problems in your marriage, maybe you have a son or daughter who's a prodigal, (someone who once knew the Lord but drifted away from Him) maybe you're dealing with divorce, perhaps you're an adult child that has a challenging relationship with your parents because of generational differences, or maybe in gatherings people tend to argue over political drama or argue about religion. (Nicest way of saying there maybe a battle between saved loved ones or unsaved loved ones. It's not uncommon for Christians dealing with loved ones who don't believe in God.) Whatever the case maybe family drama is no fun. Perhaps the holidays are hard because you're single, divorced, or widowed while the holidays often cater to couple and family. For others it maybe hard because you're struggling financially. Maybe you or someone you know lost a job, are underemployed, or a struggling business owner and you wonder how you're gonna pay the bills much less afford Christmas gifts. I want you to know you're not the first or last who maybe dreading the holidays for these reasons or more! I want you to know that the first Christmas wasn't necessarily the happiest of times. The nation of Israel was dealing with political challenges with them being exiled with them under the cruel Roman Empire (Watch several Bible movies and it shows how cruel Roman soldiers were!) and under narcissist Herod the Great. (Political drama and corrupt leaders are nothing new to let y'all know that!) There was spiritual corruption too but that's when God the Father sent His Son Jesus in the darkest of times. Don't forget that Mary and Joseph endured ridicule from their community because they were expecting when they were pregnant with Jesus! Plus because of the census they had to leave their Nazareth home to relocate to Bethlehem which meant they had to be far away from home and loved ones too. But our Savior met them where they were and His presence in Bethlehem gave them as well as the shepherds and Magi grace to endure the challenges of their day and found joy. If you lost a loved one, dealing with financial challenges, family drama, or maybe single, divorced, or widowed I pray that God will give you grace, encouragement, and comfort. I know first hand how difficult to go through that dealing with grief while you're trying to be happy. I know that all too well. But I believe why I went through what I went through was to encourage y'all! Also I reveal some of what I went through in my first book "Strength For Enduring Adversity" in chapter 8 about the losses I endured. (If you haven't gotten it I'd encouraging you to get it.) I also want y'all to know you're in my thoughts and prayers and I pray that God will meet you in your darkest hour draw closer to Him too. Perhaps He may change your circumstances sometimes He may not but He promises to be with us and you can still have joy through it all. That's what I wanted to share with y'all. If y'all haven't gotten my "20 Day Christmas Devotional" I'd highly encourage y'all to get it as a gift for yourself or someone you know this Christmas season. Blessings, happy Tuesday, have a great week, and Merry Christmas!
