The History Behind The Nativity Scene

Hi ladies it's me again and hope y'all are doing well. I can't believe it's the first week of December! That just shows how fast time goes and how we're getting closer to Christmas as well as to the end of the year! Wow! Anyway the title I have for this new blog is called ''The History Behind The Nativity Scene'' and tell you guys the significance of it. I know alot of us know that it's based upon the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ born of the Virgin Mary and carpenter Joseph was Jesus' stepfather. We know that shepherds and eventually wisemen visited Him. (In real life it happened at different times. I'll share more about that in different blogs to come!) Anyway, Brother Francis of Assi was the one who produced the first ''Live Nativity'' in the year 1223 in Grecco, Italy which was inspired by his time in the Holy land in the years 1219 and 1220! Not only that, he wanted to do a ''live Nativity'' because many people who were poor back then couldn't read or write the Christmas story from the Bible. So the poor by seeing a ''live Nativity'' got to see with their own eyes the story of Jesus' birth come to life! The first ''Nativity play'' also took place on Christmas Eve in 1223 at a Midnight mass with live animals! So there you have it! That's the history behind the Nativity scene! As we go throughout the month of December and get closer to Christmas Day to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ's birthday, remember the history behind the Nativity scene and I pray that it will make us Christians more thankful for what our Lord has done for us and inspire us to dig into our Bibles how significant how our Savior's birth truly was. I'll share blogs about the Nativity characters too so stay tuned! Blessings, Merry Christmas, and have a great week in the Lord!
